When did you start at Kal Active: February 2013 and haven’t looked back!

 

Favourite WOD: Unsure just love them all: P Um maybe the filthy 50

 

Least Favourite WOD: Don’t really have a least favourite WOD cause I know the ones I hate are probably the best for me!

 

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: Not really a sports person would love to play something like netball. But from past experience know, I’m just not very good at it. Ha ha. Always been that person that joins the local gym only to use the treadmill & cross trainer. Pretty much so I can post a face book status saying “I went to the gym”. Jokes! Not really, mainly because I didn’t ever really know how to use equipment or what to do with the weights. But since joining Kalactive this is not the case. I’m now confident to do my own thing and not too scared to use the weights etc. This is due to the fact of attending classes and being shown all the movements and right technique.

 

How did you first get exposed to Functional Fitness?? My Friend Stacey (also a kalactive member) introduced me to the gym as she started attending two weeks prior and it was all she could talk about. Now, a year later we both don’t stop talking about it!

 

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? My First WOD was taken by Kaye on a Saturday morning.

It was something like…… Warm up: Lunge to then roundabout and back.

I was struggling to finish as I hadn’t done anything with these movements much before but felt so amazing after it. Definitely was the best way to start my weekend.

 

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting? Strength, Weight loss and toning

 

Please share with us any favourite Functional Fitness moments with Kal Active? Would have to be the previous Friday Night Lights! A lot of fun and all the competitors continued to improve each week. Can’t wait for the next one!

 

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside the gym? Music, Travel, spending time with Family and Friends

 

Any advice for people just getting started? Just don’t give up!! It only gets easier!! Trust me!I use to have so many butterflies on my way to the classes when first starting. Thinking…. Will I be able to do all the movements? Will I be last to finish? Will everyone be watching me and think look how unfit she is? And looking back now I just think what an idiot!!! The instructors are just so welcoming and make you feel so comfortable. The encouragement from both instructors and other members is so amazing. I really don’t care now if I’m last to finish and only worry about achieving better times and/or technique. Plus there is always a scaling option available for all movements. Keep records of times and max rep with weights! You will see improvements!
